Don Q Day 2 belonged to Soubie Lipszyc Date: March 20, 2011 Author: Don Hackbarth Don Q Day 2 dominated by Soubie and lipszyc
Sailing out to the cours for the noon start one would have expected that the winds would be lighter than on Day 1. However, by the time of the start the fleet saw the winds freshen to 12k and build to 14k during the day. It was a heavenly day of Snipe racing on Biscayne Bay with all out hiking to weather and great surfing downwind. Soubie Lipszyc won both races. The downwind finish of race 2 had 4 boats very tightly overlapped coming to the line. Soubie managed to surf a wave at the last moment to win. The aggressiveness continued with numerous restarts in both races. Race 2 had 5 restarts and many Z flag penalties.
Soubie Lipszyc lead with a 2,1,1,1 No OCSs for them in this regatta.
The winds are expected to build tomorrow but not until the afternoon. The start is at 10:30 am.
