      Florida State Champs/EWHO Results are in!

      The Florida State Champs and EWHO sailed 8 races in a variety of conditions. The results are posted here. The St. Petersburg Yacht Club did a great job of hosting the regatta excellent food and parties for the sailors. The experienced race committee were lead by PRO Maridell Weaver and Judge Dave Shaffer.

      The regatta was notable because of the Traveling Fleet and the college connections. A large number of sailors from ICSA teams participated highlighting the success of providing loaner boats to newcomers. Serious sailing and serious fun were the motto all weekend with the competitive racing followed everyday by social opportunities. A good time was had by all.

      Starting at the top, Augie sailed with junior Kristin Walker from Miami. Kevin Reali sailed for the University of South Florida, and returned to St. Petersburg after a stint in the Navy to place 2nd with USF team member Tim King. Third was Ernesto Rodriquez sailing with Eckerd College''s Julia Melton. Fourth was Kathleen Tocke sailing with junior Charlie Bess from Miami. Fifth place went to Cara Vavolotis and Lara Dallman-Weiss from the Eckerd College program. Sixth was Mitch Hall who sailed for USF and now coaches at the College of Charleston sailng with juniors Darby Smith and Rachel Perry. After the first marred couple, Chris and Antoinette Klotz was Zach Marks (USF team graduate who coaches at Eckerd College) and junior Christine Saylor. Roberto Guaragna sailed with his son Andre. Tara Davis''s crew was recent Eckerd graduate Sheehan Commette. Bryan White and Tara Levy from the USF team were next. Other juniors sailing were Tony Collins and Colleen McClung from Eckerd; Andrew Jones and Terra Berlinski from USF; Julia Abramson from Eckerd crewing for Mike Papp. Relatively new sailors to St. Pete were John Coolidge from Atlanta and Juan Ferrati from Ecuador. Another new couple were the Johnson''s from Atlanta. Veterans included Jerry Thomson and Mandi Dufort; Old Man Diaz and Brunno; Don Hackbarth sailed with Maria Bardia (who helped design our new US Snipe Logo); Ernesto Sanchez (who built the Super Trailer) and his nephew; Steve Lang''s crew was Merrill Varn.
