USA Deeds of Gift for National Events

The Snipe Class in the USA has National events annually for Juniors, Women, Masters (45+), as well as a National Championship Series open to all Members. The National Championship open to all Members and the Junior Championships are held at the same venue over a period of about one week. This regatta attracts sailors and sailing families from around the country and is always full of Serious Sailing, Serious FunŽ.

The Junior National Championships offer two events, one in which Junior skipper and Junior crew teams (not yet 20 yrs in year of event) compete and the other in which a Junior skipper competes with an adult crew. The Junior/Junior event serves everyother year as a qualifier for the 2 teams that will represent the USA Snipe Class at the Snipe Junior World Championships. The Women's National Championship is open to all womens teams who are members of SCIRA USA. It is held either as a separate event or at the same time as the Nationals, being sailed at the same time as the Junior events. This has grown into a major event which is really enjoyed by the ladies. They usually organize a team of "Boat Boys" to take care of their boats for the event. The Masters is a classic event serving as a gathering of the 'old guard', some who are still active and some who are still dreaming. To participate in the event you and your crew must be Members, the skipper must be 45 or older and the team age must be 80 or more. Some skippers in their 80s don't need a crew to meet the age requirement! The one thing in common is that they are all friends and love sailing and talking about Snipes. The sailing competition is good, but the parties and social activities rule. Awards are given for different age groups as well as an overall winner. For the Masters Deed of Gift click HERE.

The National Championship Series open to all SCIRA USA Members tradtionally starts on a Monday, after the Juniors race, with a Qualifying Series of 2 days and then the group is split into 2 groups, as Championship Series and a Consolation Series. The event ususally ends Friday evening with the traditional awards banquet and party. The event rotates around the USA being hosted by one of the 6 SCIRA USA Districts each year.
