Forming a Snipe FleetFleet Charter
The Fleet organization is the heart of the Snipe Class. Fleets
are the basis of our organizational structure and the most significant
contributor to retaining and increasing membership. Fleets provide
the structure by which many are introduced to the class, learn
to sail Snipes, then pass on their knowledge to other newcomers.
Almost all fleets host a local regatta, and many fleet members
travel to other to local, regional, national, and international
events. These events are usually organized and underwritten by
Fleets.
One of the major steps in becoming a Fleet is being recognized
as an officially chartered fleet by SCIRA USA and SCIRA. It is
symbolic of your sailing group’s commitment to the development
of Snipe sailing at your club and region. It is a symbol to prospective
members that you are committed to operating a Fleet at the sailing
center and their investment in a Snipe sailboat will be a worthwhile
investment and deliver enjoyable weekends of competitive sailboat
racing. We ask that Fleets with 3 or more Members become officially
chartered SCIRA Fleets. The Charter fee is $10. $5 is retained
by SCIRA USA and $ 5 is passed on to SCIRA International.
If your Fleet has 3 or more members we are asking you to Charter
your Fleet by sending to SCIRA USA in Lincoln $10 for the Charter
Fee. Upon payment of your Charter Fee we will forward to you
the new DVD's 'Snipe Out of the Box' and 'This goes Where?' to
used
for training your new members.
